Lyn Hughes

Lyn co-founded Wanderlust magazine in 1993. She and her late husband launched their dream publication on their return to the UK, despite being warned by industry “experts” that no one would buy a magazine about travel.

With the business now celebrating 26 years, Wanderlust is still one of the world’s top travel magazines. Lyn is still very much hands-on as editor-in-chief and has won numerous awards as an editor and for her articles.

In 2008, The Times lauded Lyn as one of the “50 Most Influential People in Travel.” In 2012, Lyn was presented by an Outstanding Contribution Award in the British Travel Press Awards. In 2014, Lyn was awarded one of the ‘Top 60 Most Influential Women in Travel in the Last 60 Years’ by the Association of Women Travel Executives.

He teaches and blogs at the official Travellers Tales website.

Emma Thomson

Currently BGTW Travel Writer of the Year, Emma Thomson is a respected travel journalist for the UK national press, who spends roughly three-quarters of the year away on assignment covering adventurous off-the-beaten-track destinations.

Commissions have ranged from a world-first expedition crossing Namibia’s Skeleton Coast unsupported, to travelling the length of the Silk Road from Xi’an to Istanbul.
